This year marks two decades since Wilstone first exhibited at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, a world-renowned celebration of garden design and outdoor creativity, held in the historic grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea. To have one of the largest trade stands at such a prestigious event is something we do not take lightly. It means more to us than just a simple stand, its our chance to bring to life the spirit of Wilstone and Kadai to thousands of visitors.
Our Chelsea story began in 2004, tucked away in Ranelagh Gardens where most new exhibitors start their journey. We knew we wanted to make an impression, so we teamed up with Julian Faulkner of Small Earth Garden Design to help bring our vision to life. Together, we created a show-stopping stand that earned us a Merit for Outstanding Presentation, now commonly known as the coveted Five Star Trade Stand Award.
That first showing secured our place at Chelsea. Apart from the cancelled show in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, we’ve returned every year since, each time aiming to create something better than the last. Today, you’ll find Wilstone in a prime location opposite the Royal Hospital and at the entrance to the Grand Pavilion, proudly showcasing our stunning stone collection, Indian antiques, garden furniture, the Kadai range, and so much more to over 150,000 visitors across five days.
Over the years, we’ve introduced many new pieces at Chelsea, and have been proud to see several recognised by the RHS:
- In 2011, our Charcoal Maker won the very first RHS Chelsea Product of the Year Award for innovation.
- In 2021, the Wilstone Potting Table was awarded the RHS People’s Choice Award.
- And across the years, six of our products have been shortlisted for RHS Product of the Year.
Throughout this time, our approach has remained the same: thoughtful design, traditional craftsmanship, and a deep appreciation for materials that endure.
As our founder Christo puts it:
“I am delighted to be back at what is without question the most famous flower show in the world, bringing the very best in gardening excellence from across the UK as well as overseas. It is always an honour to be asked to attend and we always aim to put on the very best display possible. It is a highlight of our year and gives me the opportunity to showcase our products in a beautiful setting to 150,000 visitors over the five days.”
From the early days of showcasing the very first antique Kadais and unique Indian pieces to today’s expansive garden displays, Chelsea has become an enduring part of the Wilstone story. It’s a chance to meet our customers face to face, to share our love of fire cooking, and to be inspired by the very best in outdoor living.
Here’s to the next 20 years.
